This congress offers a unique platform for experts from science, industry, and public authorities to exchange on the latest developments in analysis, toxicology, regulation, and mitigation of mineral oil hydrocarbons (MOSH/MOAH) in food.

Despite significant progress in recent years, including improved analytical techniques and new mitigation strategies, MOH contamination remains a critical issue for food safety and regulation. The congress will highlight current challenges and future directions through expert presentations and discussions.

Registration is open for the 31st DGF Proficiency Test 2025

The German Society for Fat Science (DGF) is pleased to announce the 31st DGF Proficiency Test 2025, an internationally recognized laboratory comparison for the analysis of oils and fats. This proficiency test provides laboratories with the opportunity to assess the accuracy and reliability of their analytical methods while ensuring compliance with international standards. Each laboratory may choose an individual set of parameters from the list. The execution and the evaluation of the laboratory proficiency test are carried out according to the internationally recognized recommendations „Proficiency Testing of Laboratories“ of Codex Alimentarius and ISO.

8th Leipzig Symposium

Vegetable oil processing industry is said to be quite ‘conservative’. Due to the long-term investments and the application of long-time established processes one could guess that there is no need for innovation. But that’s not true, since boundary conditions of this industry are changing continuously. To reduce carbon footprint of production gets an issue, to get the oil ready for production of HVO, to process the seeds mechanically only, to minimize contamination with mineral oil are just some actual requirements coming from the customers. But even the ‘classical’ topics as increasing yields and efficiency and energy recovering are worth discussing.

The best way is to discuss references and success stories. This is the aim of the Leipzig symposium. Here we want to bring together people spreading success stories and the applicators from the oil milling industry for discussion and networking. For sure everybody will get some new inspiring ideas and contacts for his further work. This has been the result of these Leipzig symposia so far and we a confident that it will be the same. We live in challenging days – and t share experience and solutions is the best way to face these. We look forwards to meet you in Leipzig soon.

The German Society for Fat Science (DGF) serves as a neutral platform for the exchange of knowledge between science and practice and is pleased to announce after 2023 the second conference on vegetable proteins titled “The Future of Oilseeds: Prospects for Plant-Based Proteins?” This event will take place from March 10th to 11th 2025 in Frankfurt am Main.

The future of oilseeds is increasingly intertwined with the demand for plant-based proteins, driven by consumer preferences for sustainable nutrition and the need for alternative protein sources. As global oilseed production is projected to reach record highs, the industry is adapting to meet these evolving demands. However, the oilseed industry must adapt through innovation and sustainable practices to ensure it meets these new challenges while capitalizing on emerging opportunities in plant-based food markets.

The global protein market continues to expand and the demand for protein sources is on the rise. Plant proteins, derived from various plant groups such as pulses, nuts, and primarily oilseeds, are not only rich in protein but also provide essential nutrients, including fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Despite these nutritional benefits, these raw materials are still used far too rarely in food production.

This conference will provide a valuable opportunity to learn about and discuss with experts and other participants the latest research findings on protein production, food applications, and protein characterization. Our presenters will include experts from the oil processing industry, research institutions, and the food application sector.

The information shared at this conference is designed for all stakeholders in the edible oil and pulses industry, as well as consumers and professionals involved in the evaluation and marketing of proteins.

Die sensorische Qualität hat sich als ein zentrales Qualitätskriterium für pflanzliche Öle und Fette etabliert. Die Bewertung des Geruchs und Geschmacks mittels objektiver Methoden stellt oftmals den sensibelsten Analyseparameter dar. Eine fachgerechte Verkostung des Öls sollte daher bei keiner Qualitätsprüfung fehlen. Für pflanzliche Öle gibt es eine DGF-Methode, für native Olivenöle sogar eine internationale Methode vom IOC, die in der EU-Verordnung 2022/2105 verbindlich vorgegeben wird..

In diesem Seminar lernen Sie die verschiedenen Methoden der Sensorik von nativen Olivenölen und Pflanzenölen kennen. Darüber hinaus untermauern Sie Ihre theoretischen Kenntnisse mit einer Vielzahl von Ölproben, die Sie gemeinsam mit Expertinnen und Experten in Kleingruppen verkosten und diskutieren.

Die Jahrestagung 2024 der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Fettwissenschaft (DGF) findet im Park-Hotel Hagenbeck in Hamburg statt. Diese Tagung richtet sich an Fachleute, Wissenschaftler und Interessierte, die sich über die neuesten Entwicklungen und Forschungsergebnisse im Bereich der Gesundheit und Ernährung informieren und austauschen möchten.

Rückstände und Kontaminanten sind in allen Lebensmittelbereichen immer wieder ein aktuelles und spannendes Thema.

Bei denjenigen, die schon länger bekannt sind, gibt es oftmals Neuigkeiten aus dem Bereich der Regulierung, Analytik oder auch Toxikologie. Andere Verbindungen oder Substanzklassen kommen aufgrund von entsprechenden Untersuchungen und Erkenntnissen neu dazu und rücken somit ins Handlungsfeld aller Akteure.

Das Seminar „Rückstände und Kontaminanten in Speiseölen und -fetten“ bietet eine umfassende Plattform zur Information und Diskussion der aktuellen Themen aus dem Gebiet. Ziel ist es außerdem zum Verständnis von relevanten Kontaminanten aus verschiedenen Perspektiven beizutragen – von der amtlichen Überwachung bis hin zur Sicht der NGOs.

Fett in der Ernährung und Herz

Fett in der Ernährung und Herz stehen in der Meinung Vieler in enger Beziehung. Dabei geht es meist um die Verknüpfung zwischen Fett und dem Risikofaktor LDL-Cholesterin. Aber ist die Beziehung zwischen Herz und Nahrungsfett so einfach? Um es auf einen Nenner zu bringen: Nein. Um die vielfältigen Interaktionen zwischen den verschiedenen Fettsäuren in der Nahrung und der koronaren Herzkrankheit aufzuzeigen, haben wir das Thema „Fett in der Ernährung und Herz“ gewählt.

Dabei soll u. a. die Frage beantwortet werden, ob eine fettarme Kost eine herzgesunde Kost ist. Auch muss dargestellt werden, dass Fettsäuren bei verschiedenen Menschen und Patientengruppen eine unterschiedliche Wirkung haben. Fett ist also nicht gleich Fett für den Einzelnen. Es muss auf der Basis der vorliegenden Fettstoffwechselveränderungen die richtige Entscheidung zum Nahrungsfett getroffen werden. Dabei sollen Ihnen die geplanten Vorträge eine Entscheidungshilfe liefern. Wir würden uns daher sehr freuen, wenn wir uns in Frankfurt sehen würden.
